Staco Exhibits Total SMB Data Center Solutions at AFCOM DCW Event in Orlando

July 29, 2011

Dayton, OH – Staco Energy Products will display a full line-up of SMB data center solutions during the AFCOM DCW event in Orlando, September 12-13, 2011.  Products shown in booth #607 include the UniStar® Family of Single Phase UPS products for 1 to 10 kVA applications, and FirstLine® Three-Phase UPS products for 10 – 125 kVA applications.  Additional services to support SMB data centers will also be displayed, including the FirstLine® BMS, a proactive wireless battery monitoring system, an industry leading 3-year warranty, and ServiStar® support programs which can be tailored to the needs of data centers worldwide.

UniStar® for Single Phase Power Protection

The Staco UniStar® family – which comprises several brands for specific kVA usage points - is ideal for use in computer rooms, network closets and small data centers as well as to protect servers and telecommunications equipment, medical equipment, and other applications that require computer grade power on a continual basis.

UniStar® P models, which are easily parallelable, protect against outages and irregularities in incoming line voltages from 160 to 280 VA at 45 – 65 Hz.    Up to four UniStar® P modules can be installed in parallel for redundancy or additional capacity, and feature near unity input power factor and AC to AC efficiency greater than 90% that meets industry standards for energy savings and, less than 5% reflected harmonics.

“Online UPS protection has never been available at such a favorable price point nor backed by such an aggressive warranty,” “We are extremely confident in UniStar® and its ability to better protect single-phase users that we’re backing it with the industry’s strongest and longest warranty.” said Dave  Kendall Staco Energy’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

A constant clean, steady sine wave protects downstream equipment even without going to battery mode.   Each UniStar P features high overload handling without transfer to the bypass, and protection against short circuit and over-temperature conditions.

The unique Smart Battery Management System continuously monitors battery status and recharges whenever necessary.  Hot swappable battery packs allow users to change batteries without shutting down the UPS, further simplifying maintenance.  Matching battery cabinets enhance the aesthetics of the UPS while providing easy access and maintenance.

Available with capacities from 1 to 10 kVA, UniStar® is easy to install, and monitor.  Easy to read front-panel LCD display includes input and output voltage, input and output frequency, load percentage, battery voltage and inner temperature.  Alarms are provided for line mode, backup mode, ECO mode, bypass supply, battery low, battery bad/disconnect, overload, transferring with interruption & UPS fault, line failure, battery low, transfer to bypass, and system fault conditions.  Each size offers remote monitoring and diagnostic capabilities through an RS232 serial port and optional web, USB, SNMP or Dry Contact Cards.  Standard software is compatible with operating systems such as Windows 98, 2000, ME, NT and XP.

FirstLine® P Family of UPS Products

Staco Energy will present the FirstLine® P family of UPS products with two different models for 10 – 100 kVA applications and for 80 – 125 kVA applications.  FirstLine® P models boast efficiencies of up to 98%, while delivering maximum availability and flexibility.

True on-line, double-conversion technology is achieved through IGBT and Digital Signal Processor (DSP) control, enabling delivery of a high input power factor of 0.99, and a low input current distortion of less than or equal to 3%.  Each compact and reliable UPS is covered by an industry-leading 2-year warranty and backed by a nationwide service program with optional preventive maintenance to lower cost of ownership.

FirstLine® P units can be run in parallel – up to 8 (N+1) for the 480VAC 80-125 kVA model, and up to 4 (N+1) for the 208VAC 10-100 kVA version.  This provides redundancy for mission critical applications yet requires no additional hardware.   All units are hot swappable, for maximum flexibility, availability and expandability.  Dual Bus System and Dynamic Dual Bus system configurations provide an efficient and reliable power source.  The FirstLine® P requires only front, top or bottom access, so it can be placed against a wall, minimizing its footprint.  Battery run times are best in class.

The IGBT-based rectifier solid-state technology reduces the impact of the UPS on the local supply and simplifies installation where there is limited power capacity in the form of available electrical supply rating or generator size.  Classified as a “Zero Impact Source”, the FirstLine® P provides a high input power factor of 0.99, a low input current distortion of less than or equal to 3%, and a power walk-in function that ensures progressive rectifier start-up.  It also performs as a high performance filter by protecting upstream power supply sources from any harmonics and reactive power generated by the loads power.

FirstLine® P models feature an output transformer with galvanic isolation (between the load and the battery supply) to provide greater versatility and installation options.  The UPS can be supplied from two separate power sources (main power and a second emergency standby source) which can increase the resilience of single or parallel system configurations.

FirstLine® BMS – Allows Lifecycle Management In Real Time

The new wireless Staco FirstLine® BMS Battery Monitoring System continuously monitors UPS batteries and provides real-time information, ensuring that batteries are ready when needed to support mission critical functions.  Information is displayed through curves and bar graphs on the FirstLine ® BMS easy to read 6.4” LCD touch screen monitor.  This easy to install battery monitoring system measures and records critical elements including battery cell voltage, battery string voltage, battery string current, battery room temperature, battery cell impedance, as well as battery terminal temperature.  Armed with this critical battery status information, managers can ensure that capacity conditions are continually met as well as the permanent availability of high quality energy.  Because it is wireless, the FirstLine ® BMS easily integrates into existing applications, can be installed in half the time with less cost than traditional, wired battery monitoring systems.

Real-time status is compared to battery configuration settings and network parameter settings, with deviations recorded in an events log and used to trigger e-mail or dry contact alarms.   With a battery monitoring system, users can schedule battery replacement at convenient times, and ensure that the system is fully charged and operational for peak or high-demand occasions.  Advanced communications capabilities allows Staco FirstLine ® BMS to proactively monitor all UPS batteries, especially those in mission critical areas like data centers, computer rooms, network closets, healthcare environments, assembly lines, life safety systems, and more.

“FirstLine ® BMS is an excellent complement to our battery management programs inherent with the FirstLine UPS Family” said Staco Marketing Manager Jim Hall.  “Batteries are the workhorses of the UPS so knowing their status at all times is essential for critical environments.  Now customers can act at the first sign of trouble – and keep their systems operating at full capacity.  With FirstLine® BMS, customers have a complete power protection system.

Power Protection With a Powerful Write-Off

Staco FirstLine ® UPS products, including the new BMS Battery Management System, are designed to lower the total cost of UPS protection, and provide a higher return on investment.  These products comply with the standards set forth in the Tax Relief Act of 2010 (which is extended through 2011) that allows 100% write off of equipment purchases in calendar year 2011, further enhancing their economic attractiveness.

To prove their understanding of the value of technology, Staco will demonstrate these new products and technologies at their information table, where visitors can register to win an Apple iPad 3.0.
