Financial Power Diet

Your Company’s Financial Health

Attention CFO’s, controllers and accounts payable departments......it may be time to consider a Power Diet”.  Your electric utility or energy company may be charging (penalizing) you for power factor, or your type of billing structure may cost you more.......your organization does not need this extra weight!  Call your utility representative to discuss this concern, or better yet, have Staco perform this service for you.

Notice Immediate Cost Savings

Reactive power compensation, or power factor correction, can lower your utility bills starting on the day the equipment is operational.  Installation is fast and easy, minimizing downtime.  After the equipment is turned-on, you should notice an immediate improvement in power factor, more efficient use of your power system's load, and of course, monthly savings in your electric utility bills.

Simply put, by watching your energy weight you can benefit from:

  • Lower utility bills
  • Reduced operating costs
  • Efficient use of utility power
  • Quick ROI and continued savings throughout the life of the equipment
  • Easy installation
  • Minimal maintenance requirements

Talking with your plant engineer or facility manager is also recommended, to assure everyone is in concert on the full impact of these benefits.

What Next?

To help determine your Power Diet, electric utility billing information is required.  This will require twelve (12) months of historical, detailed billing data.  True consumption, cost, trends and high demand readings can be further reviewed concerning existing tariff rates.  Other issues for consideration include: best provider rate, sales taxes or exemptions, security deposits, late charges, billing errors and estimated versus actual billing charges. A site-survey may also need to be conducted, which will determine harmonics, transients, sag/surge and other potential power quality anomalies.

It is recommended a 900kvar automatically switched capacitor bank be installed.  This rating will help to accommodate any potential future expansion of the load.  Estimated payback 19.45 months.
